As St. Augustine said... (I think)

The questions "Is abortion murder or the answer to overpopulation?", "Is euthanasia mercy or killing?", " Is the death penalty justice or injustice borne out of hatred?", "Is there a God, many gods, or no god at all?" are not the real big problems. The problem is, "Why do we disagree?" We never seem to approach coming to terms. We are always divided. We look at a person with a different belief and view him as really stupid. All of us believe that the world would be a peaceful place if only they see it our way. Some in frustration decided that there can be no peace as long as there are men, because men always disagree. It is true that sometimes we come to some semblance of agreement. We have peace talks, treaties, United Nations, etc. But the difference is still there. All our made up agreements are temporary, they serve to pacify for now what will inevitably come. And what will inevitably come? One loud explosion that will probably push through WWIII.

Our differences boil down to more simpler things, "I like seafood, you hate fish.", I'm a morning person, you're cranky in the morning.", "I'm brown, your white, he's black, and there are a couple of reddish, yellowish and greenish people at the back." For all the advancements we have achieved, for all the technologies we can boast of, for all the great men our societies have produced we have no answer to our diversity.

But should we really look for an answer to our diversity? Let us see diversity at a new angle, because from this new angle we may come to believe that it is a blessing in disguise. Isn't it because of our differences that new ideas are made, that better implements are built, that the best concepts are formulated, that gets us nearer and nearer to a perfect ideology? Isn't it because of our differences people who are relatively common, feel compelled to step up and say what they have to say about what they passionately believe in, laying down their foundation in history? Isn't it because of the differences inside the newly founded Catholic Church that pushed through the Reformation making the Church even stronger because it learned from its mistakes? Isn't it because of the struggle of the oppressed races and the weaker sex that gave a whole new meaning to humanity? All our differences are different viewpoints, and the only way to solve a problem is to look at it from all its viewpoints. If we do not have anyone to see it in another way, how could we know that our solution has already reached its perfection? We are making a solution, we are going to have our peace in time, because we are unified in our diversities.
